the entire premise of american only works if you're willing to enter the community with an organic mindset. we are an interaction driven community. we want to toss all of these characters together and see how they get along right off the bat. this doesn't work if everyone is concentrating on a few lines they planned in pbads. we do not have any strict organic rules at the moment but we ask you to keep your preplanned lines to 2-3 and keep it basic. as mods we would love to see a return to ic journals but we understand that allowing both ic and ooc journals is easiest on everyone. there are journal resources in our main post if you are having trouble finding one. if you are using a previously used journal it should be cleaned out for our community. our standards for how you set up your character are reasonable. basic information and a minimum of 100 words should be written about them in your ooc post. that's not a lot. please future/back date your entries. there are endless resources for icons, layouts and coding so you should be familiar with them. please do your best to fit in with the looks of the rest of our members. as mods we reserve the right to reject anyone that would not be a good fit for our community.

activity

listen.. we're all adults. we're not coming into this community expecting everyone to be present all day every single day. but we do ask that you run the button weekly and that you're participating in activities reasonably. since we are an interaction based please do not disappear into customs and only come out when it's required of you. if you're that type of person in a community you should pass on us. update twice a month with anything of your choosing. it's that easy! if possible at least one post should be interactive. no posting and running, you must reply to the responses to your interactive posts. you have 72 hours to intro and another 24 to reply to your intro comments. you will be assumed doa otherwise. intros count for one of two of your required activity and if you are added after the 20th of the month all you will be required to post is your intro. you may post more than the required amount if you wish but please do not spam. mod activities will happen weekly! we hope to post the gossip column at least once a week depending on how many submissions we have received. ffas, parties, other events like auctions and such will happen from time to time as well. our gossip column will have rules posted once it is up and running. this activity is meant to be over the top and ridiculous so we ask that you do not take it seriously ooc. member activities are allowed but must be inclusive! if you plan a party or event do not exclude anyone in the community no matter what it is. we are aware that sometimes it makes no sense for everyone to be invited but let's make it easy for newcomers to get a foot in and gain traction. we ask that you never enable anon comments on ffas and that you are mindful of posting ffas when an activity is already on the fp, or on the days that we are doing adds. for right now we are not allowing off-site activities like games or movies. this may change in the future.

et cetera

after much debate we have decided to ban wire, discord and other chatting apps. we get that it's hard to monitor but we have found recently that even casually letting them back in to communities has caused focus to move away from the friends page and back onto wire. those in violation of this rule will be removed and banned from the community. we will be doing our best to remove bullies from the community if any should arise. insanejournal has increased security on the private message feature and pbads is much better modded to keep bullies and shit talkers away. we highly suggest changing the comment settings in your journal to friends only and using pbads frequently to connect with people looking to join. we aren't sure if anon communities still exist but if they do, we cannot control what happens in them but we'd love for our members to avoid the negative ooc energy. please be open-minded, present and nice to everyone ooc. we have been doing this too long and there is nothing to justify juvenile behavior continuing at our ages.
